“Take What You Need, Give What You Can” around Baker County

BAKER COUNTY – In an effort to address food insecurity and foster community support, Citizens of Baker County are reminded of the network of “Sharing Pantries” across the region, guided by the motto, “Take What You Need, Give What You Can.” These community-driven food pantries aim to provide accessible, resources for residents in need.

Pantry Locations and Access Points

The pantries are strategically located throughout Baker County to serve residents in various communities. They include:

Baker City:

  • Fraternal Order of Eagles #3456: 2935 H St.
  • Blue Mountain Baptist Church: 2998 8th St.
  • Baker City Christian Church: 675 OR HWY 7
  • Calvary Chapel: 1668 Resort St.
  • Churchill School: 3451 Broadway St. (Located between the back parking lot and Head Start)
  • North Baker School: Corner of D St. and 9th St.
  • Baker County Health Department: 2200 4th St.
  • Baker County Sheriff’s Office: 3410 K St.

Halfway:

  • Across from City Hall: 155 E Record St.

Sumpter:

  • City Hall: 240 Mill St. (Equipped with a bear-proof mental pantry)

Huntington:

  • City Hall: 50 Adams St.

Additionally, Baker Middle School will soon host its own pantry, further expanding access to those in need.

How to Contribute and Support

Community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable, weather-appropriate food items directly to any of the listed pantry locations.

Individuals who are interested in supporting or constructing new panties are also encouraged to do so. Funding is currently available to assist with the purchase of additional pantry units or construction materials within reasonable limits.
